Lesson [2]: Emergency equipment and its usage.

Emergency Slides:

  • Usage: In the event of an emergency evacuation, emergency slides or slide/rafts can be deployed from the aircraft doors.
  • How to Use: Flight attendants and passengers can open the emergency exits and slide down the inflated slide to the ground or water, depending on the situation.

Fire Extinguishers:

  • Usage: Flight attendants are trained to use fire extinguishers to control or extinguish fires in the cabin.
  • How to Use: Fire extinguishers typically have pull pins and discharge handles. Flight attendants aim the extinguisher at the base of the fire and squeeze the handle.

Emergency Evacuation Ropes:

  • Usage: In some emergency situations, such as an overwing evacuation, ropes can be used to descend from the aircraft.
  • How to Use: Passengers or crew members secure the rope to a designated point on the aircraft and lower themselves to the ground.
