Course Unit Description

This unit introduces learners to the theories, models, strategies, and practical tools used to engage employees and manage performance in contemporary organisations. It explores the relationship between employee motivation, organisational culture, leadership, communication, employee voice, wellbeing, reward, appraisal, feedback, coaching, and performance improvement. Learners will progress from understanding key concepts to analysing organisational practices, applying engagement and performance tools, and recommending evidence-based improvements.

 

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Understand the principles and strategic importance of employee engagement.
  2. Understand performance management systems and their contribution to organisational effectiveness.
  3. Be able to analyse and apply approaches for improving employee engagement and performance.
  4. Be able to assess implications and recommend improvements to engagement and performance management practice.

To achieve a ‘pass’ for this unit, learners must provide evidence to demonstrate that they have fulfilled all the learning outcomes and meet the standards specified by all assessment criteria.
