Course Unit Description

Financial and Management Accounting provides learners with a structured foundation in accounting concepts, financial reporting, cost behaviour, budgeting, variance analysis, performance measurement, and managerial decision-making. The unit combines technical accounting knowledge with practical business application.

Learners will explore how accounting information is produced, how it is interpreted, and how it influences decisions in areas such as pricing, staffing, investment, cost control, departmental planning, productivity, cash management, and organisational sustainability. The course also encourages learners to consider ethical responsibility, accuracy, transparency, and professional judgement in the use of accounting information.

The unit is especially relevant to learners preparing for supervisory, administrative, HR, entrepreneurial, and management roles where financial literacy is required to support responsible decision-making.
