Course Unit Description

This unit introduces learners to the professional communication and business skills required in modern organisations. It focuses on how individuals communicate with managers, employees, customers, suppliers, regulators, and other stakeholders. Learners will explore communication models, barriers to communication, business writing, meetings, presentations, digital communication, emotional intelligence, conflict resolution, negotiation, and professional conduct. By the end of the unit, learners should be able to assess the implications of communication choices, demonstrate professional communication skills, apply business communication techniques to workplace situations, and recommend improvements to communication practice and organisational effectiveness.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Understand the principles and role of professional communication in business organisations.
  2. Be able to produce professional written and digital business communications.
  3. Be able to demonstrate interpersonal, presentation, and stakeholder communication skills.
  4. Be able to apply professional communication and business skills to improve organisational performance.
